SlideBurner launches 5 new features

We have just put online our first big update of SlideBurner (Powerpoint/Openoffice slideshow sharing).

It includes :

  1. PDF files support
  2. Full text search
  3. Printing
  4. Images upload
  5. Transcript

Web statistics are fun

This days I'm checking the statistics of SlideBurner. Always interesting to see the grow of the traffic, which browsers our users are using, which keywords lead to our site...

Moreover than profiling our users, I discovered that statistics can also be fun.

Sometimes people are using strange OS (Operating System) to access the web :

And the list of browsers reveals also some unusual software :

2 connections from mobile phones (Nokia and Sony-Ericsson)..... I wonder what they saw with that.

Will we have stranger than that next month?

Startup2 - Who knows us ?

1 week ago, ReadWriteWeb published an article about the 15 nominees of the startup2.eu competition. SlideBurner was part of them.

This article made Jack Schofield, bloger at the Guardian, react with a post in which he was wondering who use or at least knows the nominees.

And he said something that make us pretty happy:

What I find amusing is that I've only actually used - or even heard of - one of them: SlideBurner.

Of course, ReadWriteWeb reacts to this article by forwarding the question : how many 15 Euro startups did you recognize?

Personally, I got 2. Panoramio and ourself :-)

SlideBurner - share your slideshows (PowerPoint, OpenOffice)

So, what's about ?
SlideBurner is a site which allows you to share and discover slideshows/presentations. When we talk about slideshows, we mean files created by PowerPoint (extension .ppt, .pps, .pot) or OpenOffice (extension .odp).

How it's working ?
First, you upload your presentation file on the site; then this one will be converted in a Flash format, which will allow him to be visualised in every web browser. Finally, you just have to share with your friends the link to this presentation.

What are the advantages ?
Here are some of them:

  • no more encumbrance in your mailbox with these big slideshows, just 1 link is enough
  • you can find on the site slideshows related to your interests
  • you can also create groups. It will let you create communities around a particular topic
  • you have the possibility to protect and secure your slideshows, so only the required persons can access your file
  • and much more; come and try yourself !

The site is empty
Indeed, the site just open. Consequently there is not so much content. But we are counting on you to change that quickly :-)
